Beryllium copper EMI shielding and fingerstock keeps interference in and out, holding firm contact around enclosures and RF shielded doors. Beryllium copper is also used for electromagnetic shielding. Circuits must be protected from outside RFI and EMI and must not leak interference of their own, so shielding enclosures need firm mechanical and electrical contact. Uses include mobile phone shielding, industrial shielded enclosures and fingerstock in RF shielding doors. NGK also supplies beryllium copper components for undersea telecommunication repeaters, which face corrosion, pressure and temperature extremes over a long service life.

Smartphones, tablets and circuit boards contain numerous beryllium copper contacts and connectors. These include battery connectors, board to board connectors, antenna contacts, SIM card contacts, jack connectors and speaker contacts.

The core Berylco grades are C17200 (CuBe2, Berylco 25) for high strength, C17300 (CuBe2Pb, Berylco 33/25) for free machining and C17510 (CuNi2Be, Berylco 14) for high conductivity. Where a beryllium-free option suits better, the GMX copper-nickel-tin range covers it. NGK's technical team can help match grade, temper and form to the job.
